Nazrana Ali is the creative force behind Nazaics, an Auckland‑based handmade mosaic art business born from resilience, talent, and a lifelong love of crafting. After years of searching for work that accommodated her disability, Nazrana decided to become her own boss, turning her passion for mosaics into a business where she could work at her own pace and in accessible surroundings. As she explains, “Why not turn my hobby into paid work?”

Nazrana creates beautifully decorated wooden trays, coasters, and custom art pieces, using vibrant mosaic tiles arranged in floral and colourful designs. Her inspiration began when she saw how treasured mosaic pieces were in her own family, realising others would love unique, handcrafted items made locally. Her craft comes naturally, “one or two YouTube videos and I was away,” she says, reflecting her lifelong creativity.

Living with osteogenesis imperfecta, Nazrana builds her business around her energy levels, valuing the freedom to work when her body allows. This lived experience has shaped her greatest business strength: resilience. She explains that her condition requires constant adaptability, which has become a business advantage, helping her push through challenges and unexpected setbacks.

Every piece she creates is made with care, intention, and the hope that it will bring joy for generations. Her dream is for her art to become heirlooms, “to exist decades and decades after I’ve gone,” she says.

Nazaics is more than handcrafted mosaic art. It’s a story of creativity, honesty, and dreaming big, proof that disability doesn’t limit ambition, and that beautiful things can be made one tile at a time.
